The Season of Lent
from
Ash Wednesday, February 14
until
Holy Week starting on Palm Sunday, March 24

Lent is a 40 day season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends at sundown on Holy Thursday. It's a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord Jesus' Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading the Scriptures; we serve by giving alms (the act of giving charity and service to another); and we practice self-control through fasting. Lent is known as the time we "give up something" and abstain from luxuries. But more than that, Lent is a time of true inner conversion of heart as we seek to follow Christ's will more faithfully. Really, Lent is a time for Christians to recall their baptism in which we were also baptized into Christ's death, died to sin and evil, and began new life in Christ. It is a way to intentionally live as apprentices of Jesus who said,

“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me"

(Matthew 16:24).

If you feel estranged from God, want to rekindle your relationship with Him, or have been interested in worshipping in the rhythms of the ancient Church, you've found the right place.
